Need to know:
A passionate butcher recently turned chef to follow his passion of food. Harry spent the past 28 years selecting, suggesting, advising and preparing meals for his customers. His career change led him to offer the next level of service in the kitchen, providing fresh quality ingredients to our plate. Paired with welcoming hospitality from Michelle and the rest of the team; it is an ultimate destination for the family to enjoy the humble schnitzel and parma.

Nestled in Bay Street near local businesses and residences, it has become a hotspot for locals for a quick bite to eat or families to dine in the evenings. It has a spacious dining area inside and outside, with no issues for prams or high chair space. They offer colouring in for the little ones and a nice selection of desserts, including Ben and Jerrys’ Ice creams.

Harry hand cuts and crumbs the schnitzels himself. His expertise as a butcher comes across in the way he prepares them in order for them to be moist on the inside and a crunchy crumb that doesn’t soften under the load of toppings. Each cut is marinated in buttermilk for 24 hours. They will not compromise on taste or quality and it’s obvious when you take your first bite.

If you’re not a fan of crumbed chicken, then you can opt for char grilled chicken or a local favourite for vegans; their falafel waffle as a base. They have plenty of vegan and vegetarian options.

Essentially you can choose how you eat your delicious schnitzel, char grilled chicken or falafel. Have it loaded as a parma (with 10 different toppings to choose from), in a wrap or baguette or on a plate with salad, dips or chips. They have thought of everyone when designing their menu, including children.

Our latest visit:

We dined in for lunch on a weekend. We were immediately welcomed and seated. It’s obvious that Michelle loves attending to families. Being a parent herself, she understands that it’s important to introduce children early to new foods, table manners and spending time as a family together. It’s important to her that families feel welcomed. She wants to continuously improve the experience for families that eat in her restaurant.

Our questions on the menu were happily answered and they happily cater towards a dairy free kids meal for my daughter. We ordered the chargrilled chicken tenderloins and chips for the kids to share. My husband ordered the meat lovers parma on crumbed schnitzel. It came loaded with Napoli Sauce, Ham, Chorizo, Salami, Bacon and Cheese. I ordered the Hawaiian Crumbed Schnitzel which was loaded with Napoli sauce, ham, pineapple and cheese. We also had a serving of popcorn chicken to share.

My husband who always orders beef, was reluctant to order a chicken schnitzel as he feels they are usually dry and too thick. Our experience was the complete opposite. The first bite was parma heaven. The schnitzels were extremely moist and crunchy. The care and love that went into preparing them ensured that to the last bite, they did not soften at all. The toppings were high quality fresh ingredients. They were extremely moreish and filling.

If the char grilled chicken is anything like the tenderloins in our kids meal, it will not disappoint either. They were extremely moist and both kids enjoyed them (even our son who won’t eat chicken).

Michelle highly suggested their popcorn chicken and I can see why they are a huge hit with the locals. They rival the fast food version and offer a moist treat that isn’t processed. Our son also enjoyed them!

With so much to try on the menu, we will be back again. In such a short time operating, we feel they have the recipe for success and look forward to their business growing.

If you can’t make it in, they offer delivery via third party delivery companies.

We’ve eaten here a few times with our toddler and Michelle is so welcoming as is Harry. Tasty food. Amazing waffle fries, sweet potato chips were nice and crunchy and the loaded chips are the bomb
